C.V. Murray, founder of Murray Supply Company, began his 40 year career at Atlas Supply Company during the Great Depression, where he served in a number of roles including Executive Vice President. In 1963 he left Atlas Supply and contemplated an early retirement, but was driven instead to open a plumbing supply business of his own. CV Murray decided to name his business Murray Supply Company and in 1965 he opened the first branch in Charlotte, North Carolina. After 42 years, Murray Supply Company has grown to five branches and two showrooms spread strategically through out North Carolina.
In the early years, Murray Supply Company thrived in Charlotte, N.C. due to the growing building and construction market coupled with a shared commitment of hard work and determination from the sales associates. Demand for plumbing supplies and industrial material was on the rise and Murray Supply responded to the needs of the growing city.
Five years after its founding, Murray Supply decided to move their headquarters to Winston-Salem, N.C. The facility opened in 1970 with a new warehouse, multiple offices and a showroom.
Murray Supply Company earned a reputation of superior customer service complete with strong vendor relationships in the industry. At this time the company had two facilities in the emerging markets of Winston-Salem and Charlotte.
In 1984 Murray Supply Company acquired Moore Supply in Raleigh and the majority of the Moore Supply associates continue to work for Murray Supply Company today. The Raleigh branch has grown to become one of the major plumbing supply houses for commercial products in the Triangle area.
Over the years Murray Supply Company has continued to expand, as they opened a facility in Hickory in 2001. The company saw a need to focus on the residential side of the business, as it was increasing at a dramatic pace during this time period. They achieved this goal by placing a facility in Apex, N. C., which was a prime location for residential growth.
Due to the company’s experience in the residential market they found themselves led towards the kitchen and bath industry. In July of 2005 the company bought The Fuller House, a kitchen and bath showroom in Apex, N. C. and by April of 2006 the company had completely remodeled the existing showroom in Winston-Salem and re-opened it under the name of The Fuller House.
